FAMILY FUN DAY
Sunday 24th March 2013 at Eltham Lower Park
Home of the fabulous Diamond Valley Railway (and lots more!)
PCV’s Social Committee is excited to invite all members to discover this most family friendly venue, and for those who are already aware of it, we're sure you’ll be happy to come back and experience it again with PCV friends.
We have organised use of the front oval where we’ll put on a sausage sizzle lunch, plus lots of other entertainment for the kids. Being the week before Easter Bunny visits we’ll run an Easter egg hunt and include hot cross buns on the menu for everyone. We will have our own face-painter and organise some old fashioned fun activities (think egg & spoon / sack races). There will also be sports equipment available and we’ll finish off with an obligatory family day cricket match.
In addition to what PCV has organised, we recommend you wander around and enjoy all that Eltham Lower Park offers. The highlight is the Diamond Valley Railway, with its spectacular 10 minute (approx) ride aboard one of their many mini-trains. From the DVR’s heritage style station, the ride takes you on a bushland journey over bridges and creeks, even through two dark tunnels which the kids absolutely love. But don’t think this activity is just for kids - adults of all ages will be full of wonder and admiration at the DVR set up. Tickets are only $3 per person (under 2’s free).
Also available in the park are pony rides at $4 each, two adventure playgrounds, sports grounds, bicycle track and a selection of food and drink vendors.
REMEMBER – This event is for everyone. PCV members and all their relatives, with or without children. Just bring* your picnic rug/chairs and a good fun attitude!
It’s been 3 years since PCV’s last Family Day so don’t miss this one!
Cost: Just $29 for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children). Single booking or additional adults $10 each, children $5 each.
Location: Eltham Lower Park, 570 Main Road, Eltham (Melway: 21 / H10 )
Time: 10.30am to 2.30pm (approx)
We strongly suggest arrival around 10.30am to secure a car park. Early purchase of your train tickets and queuing is also recommended, however don’t be put off by the queue for the train throughout the day, it moves reasonably quickly and is popular for good reason.
