COMPETITION RULES MEETING
Thursday 14th November, 6pm at Porsche Centre Melbourne
The Club has been holding a review of the operation of the Standing Competition Rules at the end of the Season for a number of years. The Standing Competition Rules are the principal document governing the competition system within the Club.
The 2013 meeting will be at Porsche Centre Melbourne commencing at 6pm and finishing around 7.30pm.
Past meetings have examined changes to eligibility criteria, disputes processes and time limits, composition of the classes, the possibility of a minimum number of events requirement for points and the operation of the dyno testing procedures. We have even debated allowing the power to weight classes to be calculated with the weight of the driver included, which was included from the start of the 2013 year.
The discussion is always vigorous!
In addition to this Rules meeting, there will be a working group to look at possible changes to the class structures. Hopefully we can report back the initial considerations of this group at the Thursday night Rules meeting.
All members who have competed with the Club are invited to attend. Suggestions or commentary is welcome on the night, but we will make better use of the time if contributions are emailed to competition@pcv.com.au prior to the meeting. Emails would also be welcome from anybody that cannot attend.
Topics already flagged for the rules review include:
- mandating the use of Hans device / harnesses / racing seats in some classes
- increased definition around STANDARD vehicles
- a review of number of entrants required to receive maximum points
- how many events should be dropped when calculating overall points
- requirements to attend a minimum number of events
- the use of benchmark times as a method of allocating points (as used by PCNSW)
