President's Day at Sandown
Sunday 20th November 2022
Proudly Sponsored by Porsche Cars Australia
Entry Criteria: Drivers must have more than 5 PCV events at the track (Sandown) and more than 10 events with PCV.
About the event
President's Day is a great opportunity to showcase the Club and the marque, and provide the ultimate passenger experience to our sponsors, friends and family.
Key points to note:
- President's Day is not a timed Competition Day
- It is very important that entrants understand and enter the spirit of the day
- There will be no cars on track without a passenger on the day
Share the passion
After two years of Covid enforced absence, PCV is pleased to be able to run President's Day at Sandown this year. Proximity to the city will hopefully encourage many passengers to come and enjoy the excitement of riding in competition cars.
IMPORTANT - New Rules Apply. There are apparel and seat restraint requirements which apply because of the introduction of Frontal Head restraint rules. This will be the first President’s Day to which changed rules apply. More details can be found in the Rule Change section below.
A meeting point will be setup to link up passengers seeking a run with available drivers. Please note that past years have seen lengthy queues form for passenger rides.
Food and coffee will be available from our usual vendor on the day. Alternatively, a BBQ buffet lunch can be booked with the Social Group at $45pp.
At the end of the day, to mark the end of the Competition year, please accept an invitation to join our President and members of the Competition, Social and General Committees for a beer or wine and nibbles in pit lane. This will take place only after track closure – no alcohol is otherwise permitted under any circumstances.
Please read the Supplementary Regulations carefully and make sure you understand the changes from a normal sprint day. The paramount objective is to share our passion for our vehicles in a safe environment. Porsche cars that have competed in events with Porsche Club Victoria during 2022 are preferred. All entrants require a minimum of a current Motorsport Australia Speed licence or equivalent and will need to satisfy the criteria set out below.
Important - Experience Requirements
Entrants must have competed in at least 5 events at Sandown, and in at least 10 events with Porsche Club Victoria. The aim is to have entrants who have recent knowledge and experience of Sandown to help us deliver a safe event. Note: if you don't exactly meet these requirements but feel you can demonstrate appropriate skill and experience, contact the Competition Director at email@example.com BEFORE entering.
Safety is our primary concern on President’s Day when we have passengers travelling with a mix of drivers and cars with varying capabilities occupying the track at one time.
All participating cars will be subject to physical scrutiny.
Every entrant must show the scrutineers two (2) approved crash helmets for use on the day. No helmets are available for hire from the Club. Two frontal head restraints may also need to be shown, depending on car setup. Refer to rule changes below.
As part of the entry requirements, it has been agreed by the Competition Committee that ALL entrants must provide a passenger ride to a PCV social member (according to demand) on the day.
Further details will be provided in the lead up to the event. This is to encourage the social set to partake in some of the Competition events and show them what we do and how we do it!!!!”
Drivers please note the 75 dB(A) noise limit. The gates will open at 7:00am. Runs will finish at 4.30pm.
Important – passenger requirements
Passengers must be at least 12 years of age. Any passenger under 18 require the signed consent of a Parent / Guardian. A passenger at Presidents Day must be dressed in neck to wrirst and neck to ankle covering apparel. Also closed shoes.
Run of Day
As in past years, the morning runs will be in allocated groups. After lunch if there are insufficient cars in groups for efficient operation, subject to the decision of the Clerk of Course, the format may switch to open pit arrangement to maximise the ability of the club to get passengers onto the track.
In open pit sessions, cars will be released from pit lane onto the track in the order that they arrive at the marshalling point. Releasing onto the track will be done to maintain safe track density and vehicle separation. Details will be confirmed on the day.
Entry Fee: $275 (Or $255 with own car numbers).
Garages: Garages can be booked for $88 when making your entry (limited number available).
