A Special Invitation for Porsche Club Members to the first meeting of:
THE SWALLOWS STEERING WHEEL CLUB
The original and justifiably famous, even notorious, Steering Wheel Club was formed in the late 1940’s in London and it became a favourite watering hole for the very active motor racing fraternity. Notables such as Innes Ireland, Roy Salvadori, George Abecassis, Jim Russell and even Graham Hill were often to be seen there and “Le Mans” starts from the Club’s mews location in South Kensington to some country pub shattered many a peaceful Sunday morning. While the Swallows Steering Wheel Club will not offer Le Mans starts and cannot boast such famous names - yet – we hope to replicate and enjoy the unique enthusiasm for motor racing of that era and since by screening a selection of the many wonderful films and videos that are available.
So if you like that style of motor racing, good food and wine and superb Traditional jazz provided by Swallows regulars Joe Stephenson and his Rockets give Swallows a ring and book a table.
The first meeting will be next Wednesday 24th October at:
The Swallows Hotel, Cnr Station Rd/Ingles St, Port Melbourne. Tel 03 9646 2746
