Winton Motorkhana

Sunday, 20 August 2017

As most of you will have now heard, DECA cancelled our booking of their facility due to surface deterioration making all the elements unsafe in the eyes of the new owners. It is unlikely that we will return to DECA for some time as considerable expenditure will be required to meet the owners safety standards, including putting Armco around the skid pan.

However we have come up with an alternative, which is the newly built skid pan at Winton. Many of you will have noticed this development which is located outside the circuit boundary near the sweeper.

The Competition Committee has always regarded that the challenge offered by motorkhanas gives us the opportunity to develop additional car control skills that benefit us all. We are pleased to have secured the Winton facility at short notice.

You are welcome to enter the Winton Motorkhana on Sunday whether you attend the Winton sprint on Saturday, or not. Lots of people love the friendly environment and different range of skills presented of motorkhana events.  Never out of 1st or occasionally 2nd gear, but fabulous fun. If you haven’t done a motorkhana before, come to Winton, it is great fun and there will be lots of opportunities to get tips from more experienced competitors.

Like we have done previously at DECA we will be running individual skid pan exercises initially followed by exciting head-to-head challenges.

Gates will open at 08:30 and scrutineering will start at 08:45 to give people a reasonably leisurely start to the morning and time to get a bit of breakfast in Benalla. A relatively early finish around 2pm is planned so that we can head back to Melbourne for a late afternoon arrival.

Entry Fee -  $50

Entrée Class - Entrants in the entrée class are welcome. Mentors will not be riding with you at this event, but there will be plenty of experienced drivers there to give you tips. Catering

There is an offshoot of the normal Winton canteen stationed near the skid pan and we will have access to this during the day.
