It was a sunny autumnal day when we departed Kinsale Road Travel lodge at 10.30 sharp ( I was a little tardy and joined at the Tunnel). So, it was with Eight cars that we headed off, led by Garrett, from Cork to Cahir, where we pit stopped for 20 mins and were joined by two more participants, making a total of 10 cars on the run .
From Cahir it was onto to Fethard, Killenaule, Ballingarry, Bennetsbridge, Gowran and finally Leighlinbridge (Which is our second Rendezvous Point and Lunch Stop). This leg was lead by Vincent and included all the twisty bits, fabulous job by Vincent meant that while we did get lost and split into 2 groups, we all arrived at this rendezvous point within 2- 3 minutes of each other having driven for 1 ¾ Hours ! Now, That is precision!
We had a cavery lunch at Aboretum Garden Centre in Leighlinbridge, which was just fantastic !
After lunch we then did a most splendid drive from Leighlinbridge, to Craiquenamanagh, Inistoge, Bennets Bridge and Kilkenny (which was our final rendezvous point and the end of the drive).
This leg was lead by Karl Dunny, a local, who knew his way around! (while not a Porsche, we now had 11 cars)
I bailed slightly early on the run and came home via Dungarven, just in time to see Ireland in action for the second half of the rugby - glad I did!
Thanks to everyone who came out on the run – it was great fun – it also highlighted a trick we have been missing on these events – waypoints – but we can only improve and get better – and long runs with big numbers may well end up being an SR speciality!
