North East Vintage Car Show, Mosney, County Meath
I think the North East Vintage Car Show on Sunday June 13th was our best ever attended show at Mosney. While the rain did come in the afternoon, I think our presence at the show overall was a great success. On behalf of the organizers John Phelan, Christy Smith and myself we would like to thank everyone who showed up and presented their cars in tip top condition, and the other members who came along just for the craic.
We were there early in the morning, but the day didn't start off the best with a mix up as to our original area as it was taken by another club However we manage to secure another spot, which was in a good location and we covertly expanded it, to make room for about 10 cars in formation. Of the 14 people who indicated to us that they would turn up, 12 did turn up, which was great. The numbers were expanded by the arrivals of Dave Whelan, Neil Lane, Barney Lynch and Hans Munellly to swell the numbers to 16 in our area. People came from all over, for example John Moylan made the trip from Galway with his family and it was great to have his 968 on our stand.
Members who presented there cars on our stand were as follows:
John Phelan, Christy Smith, Trevor Smith, Alan Weadick, Paul Sexton, Michael Burke, Paul Ormond, Noel Traynor, John Moylan, Eamonn Hayes, Ruadhan Neeson, Dave Whelan, Neil Lane, Hans Munelly, Barney Lynch and Donal Daly
We also had other members come along as well including Hugh Maguire, Bob Cameron, Damien Stembridge and Derek Walsh. There may have been one or two others that I missed.
It was great to have our new PCI brochure to give out to potential new members. I got one new member application and I we got a couple of renewals on the day as well. Our new flags and banners really made a difference as I think it made our presentation all the more professional. Thanks to Noel Traynor who brought his Gazebo. His original intention was to offer protection from the sun, but it played a much more important role of sheltering members from the rain!
I did manage to take a walk around the show and I thought it was larger than last year. I saw a very nice red 356 and 911 SC Targa, so I made sure to leave them with brochures. Hopefully they will both join the club and see them at a PCI event in the near future.
