Waterford Dinner and Karting-Trophy night Report

For the last 7 years we now have the Waterford dinner and attached to it the Trophy presentations to the new Karting Champion and runner ups over the last 4 years. It has grown into a very family atmospheric affair and between some of our locals attending and Karting competitors who made their way to the not so sunny Southeast for a great Saturday night out.

It was not different to the years before as we all arrived for around 8pm to settle down for a pint a glass of wine or as in my case alcohol free bier from Bavaria. We ordered our meals and with banter in abundance and great discussions with the usual topics local national or international we carried on into the evening.

Around 10pm I organised myself to present the Trophy’s to our present Karting competitors. Richard landed 13th spot on the leader board in just 2 races and also for finishing second in the Indoor Challenge 2012 at Kylemore on the 28th of December 2012. Richard’s wife Ciarda received the special award to persons who showed extraordinary skill, bravery and determination competing to the first time in a Kart race under challenging circumstances. I received my 4th Trophy in as many years and Ted who is the old and new Indoor Champion in 2012. Our new outdoor Champion 2012 Peter was not able to make due to family commitments.

I would like to congratulate all competitors once again and to thank them without reservation for making extraordinary efforts to compete in our Karting Championship that has a growing status on our PCI-events calendar. It is a great way in making friends or renewing friendships, nurture camaraderie and have a great day out with Porsche Club members.

The night then carried on as around midnight we headed back into Waterford and the more active members decided to have a look around what Waterford has to offer. Ted and I retired to the Woodlands Hotel and with another drink we reminisced on the past and current topics in car related stories.

It leaves me only to thank everyone for coming to make this a great night out and I can’t wait until the new Karting season starts on the 24th of February.

Hope to see you soon,

George
