Hi all,
Sundays Wexford-Drive brought us up to Mount Leinster led by Neil, at which time all Sunroofs where open or taken off as in my case and in Paul's case the roof had already come down already in Gorey at our meeting point.
If a little hazy, the views were fantastic with the sun streaming and you could have sworn you were down in the Med.
Jimmy led us from Mount Leinster via Borris, Graiguenamanagh, and Thomastown to the Lyrath 5 star Hotel in Kilkenny. The inviting winding roads where fabulous, while the Milk truck and some 4x4’s where holding up the traffic for which in exchange we were granted instead magnificent scenery.
We had some small presentations at the Lyrath Hotel and proceeded to have some quite tasty Pub-food at very reasonable prices in a luxuries atmosphere. All agreed this would have been a place to stay for the rest of the afternoon and indulge in some nice white or red whichever the preference.
The tour continued off the Kilkenny ring road on to the A78 heading for Castlecomer where Colm from Co. Laois was patiently waiting for the rest of the group to continue on the drive to Athy. Colm my apologies for the long wait and hope it was worthwhile as it was for us with a fantastic drive bypassing Athy and guiding us on to the Gordon Bennett stage heading for Stradbally over the Windy Gap, The Rock of Dunamaise bypassing Portarlington and thereon to Monasterevin.
Neil, Phillip and I had a great spin home from Monasterevin with some brilliant roads, including free traffic along the route. We concluded the spin with some 0.0% Beer for refreshments that where needed with a drive of approx. 170mls covered back to the starting point in Gorey. This Drive was designed to encourage all Porsche Club Members and Friends from the SE-Regional counties as well as Members and Friends from the rest of the Country, to join us on a trip around the Southeast-Region.
We hope to have stirred some interest and we will continue to endeavour in accommodating our Members and Friends for them to enjoy the Porsche Club and its facilities.
I would like to thank Phillip, Joe, Neil, Shane, Paul, Donal, Jimmy, Colm and Anthony for making considerable efforts to make this a successful Drive that carried us through all the Counties of the Southeast-Region, bar Wicklow in which Derek had organized a fantastic drive some weeks back.
It looks like we will have some more local drive’s to come this year in the Southeast-Region so watch out then, we hope to see you there.
Just one more footnote I apologies to Members and Friends who were trying to contact me on my mobile while I published one of the digits wrong.
In the meantime keep safe on the road
Many thanks
George
