Porsche Club of Victoria Wine and Food Dinner.

“Mille Miglia – Italy North to South”

Grossi Florentino CBD

Our August event at Chancery Lane was another outstanding success with rave reviews from members who enjoyed a wonderful evening of inspired dishes with accompanying matched wines.

Our next event will again be in the heart of Melbourne and to celebrate the end of our first year of Wine and Food Appreciation Dinners we’re finishing with an event at what is regarded as one of Melbourne’s iconic restaurants – Grossi Florentino. The original “Florentino” was founded in 1918 as a wine shop operated by Samuel Wynn (of Coonawarra fame) and has evolved over 100-plus years into an icon of Melbourne Italian dining.

In 1927 Italy the famous “Mille Miglia” (Thousand Miles) road race was founded running a loop from north to south and back from Brescia to Rome. This event made the Porsche 550 Spyder world-famous and established it as a symbol of 1950’s sportscar sophistication.

We will take a similar path as the Mille Miglia at our November dinner – enjoying Italian wines originating from Lombardy in the north down to Sicily in the south with pitstops in a number of regions on the way. Presented by Michael Trembath of Vino Italiano these wonderful Italian wines will be matched with Guy Grossi’s famous food in what should be an evening to remember.

Our setting will be the private dining Wynn Room upstairs at Grossi Florentino. Named after the founder of the Florentino it’s a great space looking out over the top end of Bourke Street through the decorative light-adorned trees of the Melbourne streetscape.

Guy Grossi has prepared a five-course meal for us to enjoy as we travel Italy via its’ best wines.

Our event can accommodate a maximum of 30 members and their guests.

This promises to be another wonderful PCV social evening and places are strictly limited. Singles and couples are very welcome. Please book via the link where you can also submit dietary requests. We will have a wait list to enable the maximum number of members to attend.
