This world renowned tarmac rally has been held each year in Tasmania for the past 20 years. Over that time , the Porsche marque has been extremely well representing with a number of class wins. Club members have participated as drivers and navigators and in 2011 several members participated in the very special "tag along" tour , marking 60 years of Porsche in Australia.
As club members we feel privileged to have the fabulous TT roads at our private disposal - except when the stages are closed for Targa! The terrain is stunning and varied - and the plethora of twisty bits ideally match the capabilities of our targa-bred road cars. Those of us fascinated by the deep racing heritage of our brand always associated the Targa Tasmania with this famous race , sadly no longer held:
Club President John Pooley is a TT Hall of famer and legend (2008); current members Gary Cannan and Bob White have plied their craft at the event and are willing to share "How to" information with any interested member.
Congratulations to 8 time Targa winner Jim Richards ( 3rd outright modern class , Porsche 2007 GT2 RS)
Congratulations to Rex Broadbent 1st outright Classic division for the 6th year in a row!

Here's a few 2011 targa cars at the finish
The 914 , a rare beast indeed
The 944 , a watercooled Porsche well suited to high speed road rallying
Of course , the venerable 911s , rallying since the mid 60s!
The "Rallye Driver of the Century" Walter Rorhl and the 1981 San Remo rally car reborn after 30 years
And one freshly minted for 8-time Targa Tasmania class winner Jim Richards , ready to go in another Porsche. The guy on the right "just wishes"!
Targa Wrest Point is a shorter event , along similar roads and with a similar mix of classes. Again , a great event to spot a Porsche!
