In 1974 the Porsche Club of South Australia (PCSA) was established by a group of like-minded enthusiasts who shared a passion for an exciting and enduring car brand. The club was set up to:

  • promote the Porsche marque, friendship, courtesy on the road and motor sport competition between Members of the Club and other Porsche Clubs.
  • organise and encourage social activities that reflect the enthusiasm for and appreciation of the Porsche marque.
  • provide Members with the opportunity to participate in Historic Registration.
  • act in a non-profit capacity.
  • affiliate with Motorsport Australia and other like organisations, acknowledging their Rules and observing the National Competition Rules of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).

Now, for nearly 50 years the Porsche Club of South Australia has united South Australian Porsche owners and developed a real sense of community. The Club is authorised by a licence agreement with Dr ING. h. c. F. Porsche AG to use the name “Porsche” in its name and logo and is recognised as an officially approved Porsche Club.

Worldwide, there are over 700 Porsche Clubs in 86 countries with over 240,000 members. Porsche Clubs organise some 11,000 events around the world each year.

Why join?

Whether you have a Macan, Cayenne, Taycan, Boxster or a 911, everyone is welcome. Our 400 plus members provide a welcoming environment for new and existing Porsche owners through various activities and opportunities to meet like-minded people.

If you have that special car that is more than 25 years old you can register through the Conditional Registration Scheme (Historic Registration)

Social Outings

Nearly every month there is a social event to meet everyone’s taste and budget. From drives to local wineries and usually lunch, breakfast runs, a weekend away, pub dinners and other drives, it’s a great chance to socialise and catch up with your Porsche friends. We host annual events such as the Black Tie Dinner and Annual Christmas Picnic.

Historic Registration

The Club participates in the SA Government’s Conditional Registration Scheme (Historic Registration). A motor vehicle is a historic vehicle if 25 years or more have elapsed since 1 January of the year in which the vehicle was manufactured. This means that you can register a vehicle for less than $90 pa, be exempt from stamp duty and usually take advantage of reduced insurance premiums. You can only drive the vehicle 90 days within a  registration year and maintain a logbook. For more information

Motorsport

With an emphasis on providing a controlled, supervised environment for members to have fun, learn and enjoy the spirit of friendly competition, the club conducts numerous  streams of Motorsport:

  • Supersprints (Track Days)
  • Porsche National Events (including participants from most Porsche Clubs in Australia
  • Motorkhana
  • Hillclimbs
  • Adelaide Rally

You don’t need a GT3 or even a Porsche to join in! We currently have around 60 Associate members who participate in our various motorsport events in cars other than Porsches.
We also have Come & Try days!

Supersprint

Porsche cars are designed to be driven at speed and the best place is to do that is on the track, no cyclists, 4wds, radar or trucks to get in  the way.

With close proximity  to The Bend Motorsport Park which is the longest dedicated racetrack in the World after the Nürburgring, the club hosts numerous sprint days where we hire the track for the day or share it with another car club. With generally only 15 cars on the track at any time and cars graded into groups with similar times to allow for performance and ability in safety it’s a great opportunity to get out on the track. With veterans and friends on hand, it’s great camaraderie and an opportunity to compare notes.

We are there to provide a controlled, supervised environment for members to have fun, learn and enjoy the spirit of friendly competition.

Porsche Nationals

The highlight of the Supersprint Calendar is the Porsche Nationals held every Easter at The Bend. It’s a great opportunity to meet and compete with Interstate club members who are amazed at the facilities we have on our doorstep. Held over 3 days it’s a mixture of motorsport and social activities.

Motorkhana

With a combination of driving ability and memory it’s an easy entry to motorsport. Motorkhanas are motor sport events designed to test the acceleration, braking and handling of cars and the skill and judgment of drivers. Most importantly, motorkhanas provide fun and enjoyment whilst practising and learning car control. Oversteer and understeer will be found in abundance, but at safe speeds under controlled conditions.
Usually held at the skidpan at Mallala or The Bend it’s a great day out for all ages and a chance to make new friends and often a good laugh.

Hillclimbs

Hill Climb is a speed event, where one car and driver runs over a defined uphill winding course, from a standing start, against the clock. In competition, cars are classified into categories so as to have cars of like potential performance competing against each other. However, the real contest is the individual one where each driver tries on each run to improve their individual time i.e., the hill and the clock vs the car and the driver. Competitors claim hill climbing is the best fun you can have sitting down with a seat belt on.
Held in conjunction with the Sporting Car Club of SA

Show and Shine

Every two years the Club organizes a Show N Shine event where cars are judged on presentation and condition. There are many classes and of course newer cars are handicapped. The last event was held at the National Motor Museum at Birdwood and was a startling day.

Club Magazine

We publish our own full colour, high quality magazine, Porsche Report, four times a year. The magazine content is a mix of local events, news and articles from around the world.
