The weather forecast for Delmas said Sunny. But the weather on the road to Delmas did not agree. Thick mist greeted everyone as they drove the 62km to the Red Star Raceway. By the time the groups took to the track, the sun had started to come out and the clouds started to disappear.
The track is 4km long, has 13 corners and 5 straights.
It was very encouraging to see so many stalwart members, and so many new members supporting the event so enthusiastically.
Fastest Lap of the day – Andrew Ackermann 2:13
2nd fastest Kobus Brits in his BP liveried 911 racecar.
Closely followed by Nicky Dicks - GT3, Bruce Bartie in his RSR, Brian White, Leon Bredenkamp, Quintin Asken to name but a few.
Timing after lunch was not reliable, but it was clear that everyone was settling in nicely and doing very good times.
Roy Obery and his sons were having a huge ding dong battle trying to out-pace each other in the 924. Spectacular spins and all - very entertaining.
Passenger rides were popular as ever – big smiles from everyone !
The Facilities are probably the best in the country as judged by our members. Family friendly, with stands that offer a full view of the track, restaurant, braai areas, and even a pool !
The track surface is also very tyre friendly - not as abrasive as our other tracks.
We will be back to push down those lap times.
