The visit to the  Hallspeed / Toyota Motorsport facility in Midrand on Saturday 11 July was truly Awe-Inspiring. 

The talk and walk around was presented by Glynn Hall. A more Down To Earth, Humble Man will be hard to find. 

His achievements have been recognised by the Guild of Motoring Journalists (in 1999, 2007 and 2012) with the Colin Watling Award for outstanding contribution to motorsport by a non-competitor. In 2009, he received the South African Motorsport Industry Association Motorsport Business of the Year award on behalf of Nissan Motorsport. Hallspeed took over the running of Toyota Motorsport in 2010 and is responsible for Toyota's teams in the national rally and cross country championships.

Hall and his company have enjoyed a decade-long successful involvement with the Dakar Rally and the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup. Hallspeed has built more than 30 off-road racing vehicle most of which have been sold to overseas customers and, in addition to winning numerous national and international races and several national championships in Russia, Europe and the Middle East, have performed with distinction in the Dakar Rally. The talk covered topics as widespread as Inlet Restrictors (Glynn’s favourite Topic, looking for 1mm extra!!!) to the Logistics of Shipping the Tons of Equipment to South America.

It was after12 o’ clock when we forced ourselves to leave this truly Word Leading Motorsport manufacturer.
