Pre All Ireland Football Final East Cork Drive Saturday 18th Sept. 2010

As usual we gathered at Topaz Service Station Kinsale Road at 11am. We then travelled to Passage West and took the River Lee Ferry to Cobh and took the High Road into Cobh to view the Deutschland Cruise Ship from a high. We then went to Cobh Heritage Centre At Railway Station for more photos and afterwards drove through the centre of Cobh and up past the famous Cathedral and on to Fota Island and on through Midleton to Rosies Pub in Agheda in beautiful lower Cork harbour for Lunch. 8 cars travelled on the drive and we were delighted a meet a new member Partick Walsh from Bantry who owns a 997S. He spends little time in Ireland as he is the Captain of a very famous yacht and spends his time navigating the world’s famous sun spots.

After lunch we travelled some lovely driving roads from Midleton to Rathcormac and on to the Karting track in Watergrasshill. We went there to gauge interest in having a Sprint Event on the track at a future date and in general most people were in favour of progressing the idea further. There was a National Karting event taking place and we will discuss the possibilities later with track owner Dave Walsh. We then returned back to Cork to prepare for the European Tour next week.

I will be on holidays for the month of October and if any other member would like to organise a drive please contact me and I will pass on all the contact names and numbers.

In late November we will have a drive to Dungarvan with Kinsale Classic Club who are the organizers of Kinsale International Rally. We have been their invited guests for the last number of years.
